The NY Times chose to re-run this story again for a reason...

A closer look at what really happened during the Kentucky Derby from the Winning Jockey's perspective. He claims his horse "Maximum Security" was interfered with from the horse behind him "War of Will" causing the chain of events that cost him the Kentucky Derby win. He strongly feels it was not his horses nor his fault.

If you look deeper into the story you will see that Luis Saez, the jockey riding "Maximum Security" was an older brother, one who has made millions in horse racing - some would say he has won big! Other's after hearing his story may say he lost big, as his very talented jockey brother died while racing horses at only 17 years old.

This year we focused in on all the horses that died at Santa Anita, 36 so far. Yet horse racing has cost many humans their lives - something we rarely - if ever - talk about. Yes losing the Kentucky Derby would suck after you won already, but losing your brother would hurt far worse. When you look at the toll of the human lives, you must ask yourself, why aren't these tracks made safer? Why are horses being drugged and jockeys unwittingly riding them? Would you ride a horse that was just given a shot of meth, heroine or cocaine capable of going speeds in excess of 30 m.p.h.? Maybe some of these horses who lose their rider, like happened in this year's Preakness are doing so because they are drugged out of their minds and don't want to hurt you. Maybe whipping them in that state of mind to go faster, isn't the best idea, maybe racing on sloppy muddy tracks when one misstep can cost not only the horse but the jockey his life is a bad idea. Who is advocating for the 17 year old kids out there racing horses? Why isn't there an age limit? Are 17 year old kids competing in the NFL? Should it be the parents job to make sure the track is safe, because clearly and obviously regardless of what the blind and inept investigators at Santa Anita have publicly stated (which we all KNOW not to be the truth) there is a HUGE problem with the racetrack when 36 horses lost their lives WHILE racing on it, with no alternative explanation provided. Now it is time for transparency we would like to request the autopsies be publicly posted on all 36 racehorses at Santa Anita.

Now we have 17 year olds riding drugged up race horses to their death to add to the list of horse racing mishaps. Will the government with the Horse Racing Integrity Act be able to prevent that? Has the Patriot Act stopped terrorists from shooting up schools and shopping malls? No. Has that National Debt gone down-regardless if we put a Democrat or Republican in the White House? No. Has bailing out the Big Banks $9 trillion helped our economy? No the reverse happened over 17 million Americans lost their homes. Has bailing out horse racing $7 billion in the last decade helped the economy? No, the state of NY had to step in because top trainers are under paying their help, not even giving them minimum wage - which they had to sue for, top trainers including Steve Asmussen and Chad Brown multi-millionaires so cheap they did not pay their minimum wage workers for all the hours they put in. #SLAVERY Did the government prevent that? Was justice served by our government when Steve Asmussen's jockey was caught shocking his horse to win a race? No. Was justice served for the 36 horses that lost their lives at Santa Anita when our government stepped in to do an investigation? No. Does our government do right by horses? No. Look at BLM, rounding up horses with helicopters and shipping them overseas to slaughter is cruel and evil. Why would ANYONE think this organization, that cannot even get your drivers license to you without a two hour wait in line and then two months of time to have it mailed to you, would be capable of doing what those inside horse racing are unable to do, and that is make sure it is ran cruelty and drug free? To think the government will fix ANYTHING is insane and ludicrous. They WILL make money off of horse racing and new taxes, but I highly doubt they will be effective in saving lives and preventing the imminent demise of the game that is now so despised by the public there is no turning back. The government WILL take your horses though just like your guns, race horses, wild mustangs, in the governments mind they are all dangerous...XOXO
