Jeremy Balan former Santa Anita horse racing correspondant for Bloodhorse prior to reporting on the

rash of deaths at Santa Anita. If anyone should be credited for breaking the story and win an eclipse award this year for best journalist it is Jeremy Balan. A lifelong fan of horse racing and most definitely a fan favorite with an outpouring of support from his many fans after leaving Bloodhorse over indifferences on the dead horses (under 27 at that time) leading to a year of 47 dead horses and a full on fervor in the nation to end the carnage at the racetrack. Perhaps covering up the deaths and parting ways with transparent and honest FAN FAVORITE journalists was not the best approach to the dead horses as we are now witnessing the after math of that fateful decision. Rather then fix the problem and justify the situation by fixing the track, ending the whipping and the drugs, and the slaughter of these beloved athletes, and honoring journalists for their transparency and fact full reporting, horse racing has chose the worst path it could, and now all these dark secrets have come to light. It appears as though horse racing may soon be experiencing more public turbulence and scrutiny in weeks ahead. XOXO
